A quirky combination of orthodox Lutheran theology, football, and art.
Your thoughts on this rendition of our Lord's crucifixion?
It looks like a painting of some sort, with all the modern/post-modern ideas of painting art now-a-days. I do like the graphic rendition of the suffering endured by Christ. In this it reminds me of Gibson's "The Passion" which portrayed a very realistic look at scourging and crucifixion. It shows the great depths of God's love for us. Would I hang this painting somewhere in the church? No. It wouldn't fit the decor of my church's artwork. It's also too radical and modern for my parishoners' tastes. But I wouldn't be opposed to having in my house as part of my own art collection.
I concur with Pastor Bauernfeind: Not in my church (except, perhaps my study), but quite possibly in my home.
